Malas Wood
Malas wood mostly found in East Indonesia, one of which is in North Sulawesi.
It has good working and finishing properties. Easy to distinguish from other wood species. The finished product brings something different and has good useful value. It has a high density and commonly used for heavy construction, docks, bridges, flooring, decking, ship-building, truck bodies, railroad, piles, poles, hand tools, etc.
Specifications of Malas wood is the following:
- The heartwood is brown to reddish-brown, the sapwood is light reddish-brown or pale red-brown, the grain is usually straight but sometimes can be deeply interlocked.
- Also called ironwood because it is very hard to be the nail.
